To protect the consumer, manufacturers, importers and distributors must observe products placed on the market and be organized in such a way that, if necessary, they can recall them. If companies are not themselves active, the authorities can intervene, warn the public and order the recall.

Why is this insurance important to you? strong>
According to the Product Safety Act (ProdSG), products must be observed even after they have been placed on the market. There must be a warning of any significant risks that can be posed by the products to persons. As the ultimate means of averting the crime, a callback may also be required.
If the entrepreneur does not call back himself, the authorities can order the recall and charge the entrepreneur with the costs. Obliged are manufacturers, importers and trading companies. Suppliers are also obliged and can be reclaimed by the customers.

The insurance covers the recalls made during the insurance’s effectiveness (own and third-party recalls). Callback means the request by the policyholder or a competent authority or other third party required by law to recall the products for defects and to remedy them or to have other named measures carried out. A recall also includes the warning of non-safe products.

Which callbacks are insured? strong>
Insured are self-recalls (not with automotive suppliers) and third party recalls in Germany and abroad.
For exports to the USA, US territories or Canada, the insurance cover must be requested separately.
What is the sum insured and what does the insurance cost? strong>
The sum insured should be based on the expected costs of a recall.
The contribution is calculated according to the individual risk situation. Criteria for this are e.g. the number of pieces of manufactured products and the possible risk potential of the products.
